Why Dog Mouthwash

There are more reasons other than wanting sweet-smelling kisses from your pet to use oral hygiene products. All pet crazy folks should consider preventative dental care for their pets. A doctor from the American Animal Hospital Association warns that, “By the age of three, nearly 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats already show signs of oral disease.”

This can be a real problem because dental disease can lead to serious health problems, including heart, lung and kidney disease. The same bacteria that are causing bad breath in your furry companions can get into their bloodstream and cause serious health problems. It was also noted that “Pets can live longer, healthier lives if oral health care is managed and maintained throughout their lives.” This is a fantastic reason to keep your pet’s breath fresh.

If the problem of the bad breath is not orally related then it could be due to the dog’s diet and a different preventative is available. Most owners these days give their dog dry dog-food as part of their diet, which mostly keeps their teeth and mouth healthy, yet their dogs have bad breath. We found an accurate solution to our dog[s bad breath by adding additional and necessary vitamins and minerals to his raw meat and reducing the quantity of dry food – which was obviously the problem due to its high percentage of yeast content.

However, if you do not wish to go to this amount of trouble, then I am sure there are products that are reputable and can properly provide the necessary digestion aids and anti-bacterial activity in the dog’s digestive tract to achieve the same result and thereby naturally eradicate bad breath.

Mouthwash is the immediate product from the market that deal very well in helping to kill the bacteria in your dog’s mouth and could actually help heal damaged gum tissues. Do not forget to ask your veterinarian on the best products in the market.

Find ways of scraping the food off the dog’s teeth, such as dry biscuits. Those that contain mint or charcoal can also help to absorb any odors that may be lingering in the oral cavity. Do not feed the dog too much meat or soft food. Dry food, while less popular, will help keep their teeth clean.
